"I will set off from Popham Airfield in Hampshire on a trip that will take me through France, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia and into Russia. I will then cross the Bering Straits to Alaska, and travel across Canada, the USA, Greenland, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands before heading back to the UK. I will give talks in schools and to youth organisations in every country I pass through as I make my way around the world, sharing stories of fun and adventure!"
This is how James Ketchell described his journey around the world that took place on board of a Magni M16C! The mission was to inspire one million young people around the world to pursue their own goals and dreams, whilst raising funds for two great charities: Kindled Spirit, who support and rehabilitate young victims of human trafficking and slavery; and Over The Wall, who run residential activity camps for children with serious health issues.
“My objective is to give every young person the belief and conviction that they can achieve their goals and dreams."
After leaving Popham, our adventurer joined us in Germany, where he exhibited his gyroplane as guest of our booth at AERO 2019 fair in Friedrichshafen. After passing through Poland, Lithuania, Estonia and Russia, James finally arrived in the United States where he touched all the 49 states and joined us once again at EAA Airventure Oshkosh, and then finished the round-the-world tour returning to England.
“It’s been an incredible, humbling experience but also the toughest challenge so far. - said James after arriving back at Popham Airfield - The weather has been so unpredictable. At times the flying has been hairy. I’m just so glad to be back.”
Magni Gyro is proud to have taken part in a project of such importance allowing James to fly in an M16C, which gave him the possibility to achieve an important milestone.
